“I am Sami, without the Sami language, but with a strong Sami identity and a deep interest in the history of my people. I use Sami symbols to decorate my pottery. The symbols are derived from the drums the Noaidis (Sami shamans) used.

Through the symbols and their meanings I have learned much about Sami history and religion. This adds another dimension to my work. Not merely decorative variation, but more so an opportunity to express part of Sami culture.”
