About Árran Pottery works...

My name is Ellen Marie Martinsen and I come from Honningsvåg, a little place 35 km from Nordkapp in Norway.

In 1992 I moved to Gotland, Sweden. Before this I lived in R1øros in Norway, where I worked as a potter’s apprentice.

Today my husband and I live in Eksta, Gotland’s most beautiful parish. Here we have bought a little yellow house with a lush yard and garden.

Árran, which means hearth in Sami, is the name of my pottery works which was started May 17, 1997. The workshop is in Hemse, in the center of Gotland. I also have a little shop in Hemse, but most of my products are exported to the mainland and to Norway.
